'As expected, Mayor Richard A. Moccia presented his plan: $2.2 million in relief to the Board of Education, with that $2.2 million to be paid back to the city in fiscal year 2013-14. The board is expected to discuss its budget tonight during its meeting at City Hall.' - The Norwalk Hour
"Bravo!" wrote the nervous parent curious if her sarcasm was obvious.
ReplyDelete"Now to cut only eight million dollars from my children's schools," she thought without a hint of relief.
"Maybe we'll get to have 3/4 day kindergarten instead of 1/2 day kindergarten?"
But please, make sure our kids can't read.
ReplyDeleteBut they'll have sports, music and for the select few, AT!!!
Columbus Aides - Brigg's - they are sucking up all of the $$$$$$$$$$$ - we need libraries!!!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I heard, Supt Marks made changes to her budget after the Mayor got her the extra dollars. The changes were all things Fred Wilms and the Mayor wanted.
ReplyDeleteDo we thank them for library closings but full athletic budgets? Or do we blame Supt Marks for not standing up for all of our kids?
He saves her job and she repays him. It's not about kids, people. He told the Republicans to be nice to her. Now he has a puppet. Stay tuned for the next episode of 'What the Mayor Wants, The Mayor Gets.'
DeleteCan anyone say "pay to play"?
ReplyDeleteGet real folks. You can try to politicize this as much as you want. Did you read the headlines in the HOUR today. Northrop Grunman closing, Westport tightening their belt with kids not legally in the school system. San Jose and San Diego opening up pension contracts. Wisconsin recall election failed. The country is broke. The state is broke and the city is broke.
ReplyDeleteAnd as Jack Chiramonte said, NPS employees are the second highest paid in the state with the BEST benefits.
Pretty good for a blue collar town that gets no ECS money.
Time for the NFT and NASA to open up the contracts. Dick is guilty of a few things, but you can't pin this one on him, unless of course you make him responsible for the recession.
He is most certainly responsible for saving Marks!
DeleteTo sort of quote the Clinton campaign, "It's the priorities, stupid." Not that I think anyone is stupid, by the by.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me that big cuts to the elementary schools are what Norwalk needs? Why cut elementary school intervention aides but save freshman sports? Why crowd elementary school classrooms but save academically talented?
Why? Why? Why?
