  1. Probably better than anyone thought. Wonder if the Asst. Supt. for Curriculum and Instruction might get a smidgen of credit for the improvements?

    1. No. The teachers and the kids do. Stop the campaigning.

    2. Why are you giving her/him a hard time about the progress Asst. Superintendent has made? He has worked very hard on improving test scores! Of course the teachers have worked very hard also, but that doesn't mean the Asst. Supt. for Curriculum doesn't deserve credit. You need to stop working so hard AGAINST Daddona and give him some credit.

  2. Does anyone think that the community and the Board will take a hard look at these scores? I think they show a few good things. First of all scores improved across the District which shows some value to current planning. Second of all it is obvious that Norwalk has great teaching- no plan can be that good to make up for lousy delivery.
My hope is that no one is satisfied that the District has made enough improvement. My other hope is that we can stop fighting over the Asst. Supt. and focus on what we need to move the District forward.

  3. Interesting test results. Can anyone tell me why Columbus isn't in the top half of the elementary schools?

  4. Analysis please--- Norwalk did a lot better than the high schools in Danbury and Stamford. Can anyone tell me how? Was it something that was intended, or just luck?

  5. Certainly not just luck. Mr. Daddona has been working with data teams to improve instruction. He worked with the State Dept. of Ed and was praised for his efforts by the State. The teams, in turn, worked really hard to implement what was learned and it worked!

  6. What are "Data Teams"? How do they address teaching? (Sorry for the simple questions, but I'm a kindergarten parent and this is all new to me). Thanks.

  7. Data teams study tests to determine strengths and weaknesses within the system and for groups of students. Their purpose is to research where there are weaknesses and to teach to create strengths where weaknesses are found. Obviously the method is working!
