The Good and The Bad

Let's start with the good happenings in the Norwalk Public Schools. Would you like to contribute some positive initiatives that you see?

We have been hearing about some of the not so good, but you are welcome to add to the list.

Please feel free to add your comments. As always, your comments remain anonymous to me as well as to readers unless you choose to add your name.

  1. With all the new people at central office, they don't understand that if they redistrict, the emptier schools will house the students who are overcrowding the packed schools. Tracey and Wolfpit have room for more students. It's the blind leading the blind between central office and the BoE.

  2. The Know-it-all, conniving, Red Apple, Sue Haynie must be crying in her pillow. Adamowski has not only supported the late Bruce Mellion's Parent program, but also expects to expand it. Shame on you Sue Haynie for trying to get rid of a program that educates parents. Shame on you, Sue Haynie for spending months trying to convince everyone that the program had no merit. The only thing you convinced us of is that you are a mean, nasty to administrators, phony, wannabe educator. You don't have the education or the theoretical/practical knowledge to know what is best in education. You are a pretentious phony!

  3. The program has been modified with the aporopriate literacy staff put in charge. Thank you Sue!

  4. Adamowski pointed out that there was some criticism of the program for not being linked to the literacy curriculum in schools.
"This is not a curriculum. It's training for parents. It's an attempt to get parents to exhibit certain behaviors and do certain things with their children. If there was a unique aspect of it, it was that the impetus for it came from the leadership of our teachers' union, for which I think we should be grateful." -THE HOUR

So, we can thank Bruce Mellion, just as Adamowski has done. Let's be truthful! Sue Haynie only wanted to stop the program because it was initiated by Bruce. All Sue Haynie did was give Bruce Mellion loads of stress. . Perhaps she can't speak up for herself now because she feels guilty that all the stress contributed to an early death for him.

  5. The ultimate cynic, Sue Haynie, did speak up at the Board meeting. It was her attempt to stab Bruce in the back even after his death. She had to get her "expertise" heard and followed up on. Only she has good intentions, and only she can be right. There is a personality disorder associated with that behavior! Watch out, Adamowski. She knows more than you do!

  6. why is there so much focus on Mrs. Haney?

What about the other issues in the district?

    Administrators leaving?
    High School a mess?
New pathway hs has roughly 45+ what is the bill to keep it open?
    Cost overruns in SPED.

Technology still a major mess and why?

  7. Adding to your list are the grants that are a mess. Allegedly Rivera presented a great budget by moving positions and everything else into the grants. Adamowski sees the problems and he is stuck correcting them now. Lyons is throwing his one-time "hero" Rivera under the bus by blaming him along with his usual favorites for the grant mess. Rivera's "amazing" vision and plan was also criticized by Adamowski. Apparently a significant amount of measures were found lacking. Looks like Rivera didn't do such a great job after all is said and analyzed. Perhaps Lyons needs to keep his mouth shut this time.

  8. The grants are a mess? ???
why is the Grants person still there?
What was the Rivera Vision? bring in high paid friends to do your work? Bring back IT person who can't cut it.
let's see what vision we have now...seems like New Haven is moving to Norwalk.

  9. I found it interesting myself that Rivera and Daddona were accused of the grants mess, but Lyons never mentioned the grants administrator. Computers and Grants administrators are highly protected. Why?
Did Nancy on Norwalk ever get in touch with Daddona? Or are they so one sided that they don't care to find out if there is another side to the story. (Which I here there is)

  10. This is supposedly the website where the truths are let out. We can only hope that people who need to see this website are watching.
At NHS the NEASC Report was just released by the principal that almost the entire faculty does not have faith in. In addition, he distributed only part of the report. The claim is that the scanning was not done correctly, but who knows? This man has no credibility. BOE are you listening????

The staff at NHs feel the report was altered. Many staff put their heart and soul into writing, communicating; only to have a very generalized report compiled and finalized.
Was the report "doctored" ...what we as staff have said, never reached the pages of this report.

So is the NEASC process a farce? it seems that way. The other high school is preparing for NEASC...
don't work too hard, because what you hope will happen won't; what you hope gets printed ...doesnt, and what you hope for...won't happen. don't put your heart and soul into it, because you will be disappointed.
Is the BOE going to wake up?
    We hope so!!!

    1. If you think this report was 'doctored' then you weren't around last time NEASC came to NHS. All of that work was rewritten by Irene and Gail to their liking. They actually would show up to each group meeting and tell you what you could and could not include. If you did not listen to them, then your section had a heavy handed rewrite by them.

Whether you like Reginald or not is irrelevant to the fact that NEASC has always been a dog and pony show. You jump through hoops when they come, write what they want, and not much has changed. Ask the people who have been through this rodeo a few times... doesn't matter who the principal is or who runs the committees... the goal is to get reaccredited. That's it.

Also, the report from NEASC was sent again to staff so the missing pages would show up.

  11. I have to wonder if NEASC is the appropriate channel to air dirty laundry? Seems that there should be an in-house means to deal with the negatives before handing problems over to outsiders? ESPECIALLY if these outsiders are determining whether you get accreditation.

  12. I love that the educators are not afraid to post here anonymously. They can get answers without the fear of recourse. Staff can also get support since so many read this blog. Everyone needs a place to vent!
