The Pot Boils

We are witnessing some unusual activities and speakers at the Board of Education meetings.  What is going on in Norwalk?

  3. It speaks volumes when Teacher Appreciation Week goes by and none of the following extended a thank-you: Superintendent Adamowski, any of his lacky admins at central office, BOE let alone the Chairman who's always on NoN.

We did have a nice week of thank-you's at school and when the most important people (my students) found out it they made it a point to say thanks. I also got emails from many outside agency; but, when it comes to Norwalk Public Schools BOE and Central Office... crickets. So don't buy any of their propaganda to the contrary... the powers that be in Norwalk really don't care about the teachers.

  4. Very sick school system. All the best people have left. No surprise.

  5. Let's see.... Tony Ditrio retires (forced out?)...$8000 nationwide search for SPED director ends up with a choice Adamowski knows from Hartford.... HR director was specifically recruited by Adamowski....as the kids would say this is all 'sketchy'.

  6. Ya think??? Say what you want about Ditrio. He cares about this system and most importantly, our children. Can you say that about these other Cowboys?

    1. Cowboys? You mean carpet-baggers.

  7. First comes Rivera, who brings in his pals and starts the process of getting rid of "the old guard." Rivera left a mess to clean up, including illegally using funds from grants. I recall Mr. Daddona was thrown under the bus by Rivera and Lyons for reporting that funds were being spent illegally for a summer school program? Me thinks Daddona wasn't wrong after all was said and done.
Now Adamowski spends a cr*p load of money and hires pals he knows, with Lyons approval. Rivera's pal, who screwed up the Dalio Foundation grant the first time is still around...with a pay raise!
Common denominators? Lyons and those formerly known as the Red Apples. Congratulations, Norwalk! You've been scammed, hoodwinked, double crossed, deceived and cheated!

  9. Consider almost everything Marj said turned out to be true. She was not a Rivera cheerleader; smart move on her part. She communicated trouble with illegal use of funds; true, according to Dr. Adamowski. She needs to be back to let us know what to look for next.

  10. look at the last 2 hires. so much spent on national search...no one available, but alas...someone out of Hartford just pops up!

then we cannot find a talent officer ...so we hire someone from New London, where none other than Rivera is! Is he cleaning his own house??

  11. Because it may of interest to some of the readers of this site, I submitted a FOIA request to NPS requesting documentation relative to the efforts to expand the Stepping Stones/Literacy How, Inc. preschool at Fox Run to Brookside. Although the majority of documents have yet to be produced (which is the subject of a complaint to the state's Freedom of Information Commission) the documents which were provided are available by this link: http://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B9zEmk3mJF92Q0tCQjJoYjd4ZFE&usp=sharing

    1. Steve, this is required reading for taxpayers! Thank you for sharing. Educated Yesterday needs to make this a whole topic on its own. Please keep us informed.

    2. I don't get why there was a need for Stepping Stones to invoice NPS for almost $28K of office supplies and furniture. If they were planning on taking over a classroom one would think there would cubbies and chairs for the kids and a teacher's desk. As a teacher, I've never been reimbursed for any office supplies I've used in my classroom. This year I got 2 dry erase marker and thought that was a novelty. Next year positions are being cut that have a direct impact on students and yet it seems like these new 'partnerships' have hit the cash cow.

    3. The contract for the Fox Run preschool requires NPS to pay for all set-up expenses, as well as other costs associated with the program.
As the husband of a preschool teacher in the District, I can share with you that every month we have expenses related to the program at Brookside for which there is no reimbursement. But, teachers throughout Norwalk (and their families) are all very generous using their personal funds to help their children and stock their classrooms.
