HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- A slate of school reform proposals that include eliminating open-ended teacher tenure, providing preschool and all-day kindergarten statewide and eliminating grade levels drew interest Wednesday from Connecticut education leaders, who are preparing their own reform ideas for lawmakers. (from the Norwalk Hour)
This type of reform could take years to achieve, but the proposal is out there. What do you think?
The proposals come from the state's superintendents' association (yep, the gang that inflicted John Ramos and Sal Corda, and the quitter from Greenwich, on legions of CT students AND taxpayers).
ReplyDeleteThat says it all . . .
How does the Hartford Brain Trust think that cities will have money for full day universal preschool? A great idea- critical for all- but expensive.
ReplyDeleteWhat about their whole plan to make learning more individual-- did they not see the memo abouthe Common Core State Standards?
Isn't this the same group that decided that all day care facilities that get State funding must have providers on staff that have a Bachelors in Early Childhood? Sounds great, until you realize the price tag that comes with getting a four year degree. So, you have someone who is working in a day care, probably making way less than $20.00 an hour, but the State wants them back in school to get a degree to have their job, but when they have that piece of paper, they also have the student loans. And then they probably won't be able to afford to go back to their previous job, which may have been filled by someone else.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is helpful how?
