When is Marks going to stop talking about Maryland? She has been in Norwalk almost two years now and is still referring to how Maryland does everything the 'right' way, even teacher evaluations. Norwalk can not be compared to Maryland. Someone should let Haynie and her apples that Norwalk differs from Maryland's demographics and socio-economic status.
Let's see- Marks thinks we're in Maryland, Haynie compares everything to Greenwich, Lyons wants to return to the early '90's, Colarossi has flashbacks where he thinks he's in a courtroom, Barbis thinks he's on the train with his Blackberry and bag of sodas and Jack, well, Jack acts like he's shouting orders at the old pizza parlor.
ReplyDeleteGood one, Soccer Mom! You nailed it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteIf Marks is Dorothy, and Haynie is the Wicked Witch, who's going to play the Flying Monkeys?
ReplyDeleteFlying monkeys? The commenters on this site, obviously.
DeleteAnd if Marks is Dorothy, then Haynie wouldn't be the Wicked Witch of the West.
You can call this My Anonymous Manifesto. It is a call for change in our school department.
ReplyDeleteMarks' old boss in Maryland was a tough, arrogant superintendent. There was no doubt that he was in charge. Does anyone think that Marks is in charge in Norwalk?
Come on-- you have Sue Haynie running around attacking staff. Marks does nothing. Haynie has accused staff of not following procedures that don't even exist. Marks does nothing to correct her. Is it any wonder morale is so low?
For curriculum, Marks has Norwalk running around to take every pilot program that comes down the line. She needs to explain to the non-teachers that Core Knowledge won't work in Norwalk, isn't recommended by the State Dept. of Education (because it doesn't integrate with the Common Core State Standards) and is too expensive to implement. Why isn't Marks guiding the Curriculum Committee to look at other curriculum models that are designed to blend with the Common Core State Standards? The answer is simple- she is afraid of Mike Lyons and Sue Haynie. A real leader would work with these two and help them plan Curriculum Committee meetings that addressed more pressing issues.
For administration, I don't know how staff was treated in Maryland, but here morale is sinking. Why? No leadership, no direction and no vision. Marks has her favorites. No one trusts that any plan Marks proposes isn't designed to give Carol Marrinacchio a job in the Central Office. No one in the schools has any confidence that Marks has a plan to get them through this budget crisis. People in the central office know that if they get attacked by the Board of Education, Marks will offer no defense. We have absolute dysfunction where employees go to Board of Education members for direction.
For budget matters, Marks provides no direction to the COO. She has abandoned any responsibility for the budget.
The biggest offense to Norwalk should be that Supt. Marks does not see any of her leadership or management deficiencies. She is remarkably inept at critical self-reflection. We needed an eagle to lead our schools, instead we got an ostrich.
@ 2:46 AM, you have summarized it all with incredible accuracy! Bravo!
ReplyDeletewhy dont you look at the job of the assistant supt. and lack of leadership.
ReplyDeletetitle is assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction and guide and propose plans. have you seen any?
who every you are you have no guts--you attack and attack without the truth. if you are an educator how embarassing for education.
why not use this blog to help the district be functional and work toward getting on track. get politicians involved to help, business partners to want to be attracted to education.
Instead of tearing down one after the other after the other and it seems the same ones. Sounds like you have nothing but nasty remarks all the time.
The only reason I say assistant supt. is because what is done there? If you been around as long as I and that is many years then you know!
Sounds like Carol is with us distracting everyone away from her as the subject. Everyone knows how she feels about the Assistant Superintendent. She makes her feelings very obvious. So maybe we should redirect the conversation back to her? Although she will undoubtedly get on here and deny that she is writing....and that it is a male writing on here..... or any of the many excuses we have heard. Got a new excuse why it isn't you? I hope you can be more convincing this time! And don't forget to space out your responses. Last time you wrote 5 comments on the blog within 7 minutes.
ReplyDeleteWhy not I mean, this was what this blog was created for. The hatred for her and Mrs. Marks? Everyone knows that. from Moinas blog to this one, even though the subject might occasionally change...........this is what this blog was created for, "interet thugs" who openly "hate on" someone so much that they feel the need to spend their free time to discuss them? and @ 3/17 I wouldn;t doubt if it is an educator....kind of sad honestly. I trust these people with my children.
ReplyDeleteSo 7:12, do you trust your children to 'her' ( I assume you are referring to Carol M.) and Mrs. marks, who people 'hate', according to you? Maybe you should consider the old adage, where there's smoke, there's fire? I'm not going to hit the specifics here but call the fire department!
ReplyDeleteDid someone say "fire"?

DeleteAgreed 7.55. This blog is going to go the way of the dodo unless the haters start putting forward recommendations for this district, rather than anonymous character assisinations . At least the people you are criticizing are willing to put their necks on line to fight for what they believe in.
ReplyDelete*laughing out loud*. Marks is putting her neck on the line to fight for what she believes in? Where? I don't want to miss this event?
DeleteWell, im glad you got a good laugh. now you can shut up.
