Riddle me this-- I know that the teacher curriculum review panel looked at the all the English Language Arts programs in May. Why hasn't the BOE accepted their recommendation?
Let's not bash the Angry Four. The problem for curriculum is that the real experts didn't fight back publicly, so Lyons, Haynie and Barbis thought they could push them around.
Not sure what you mean. I thought the teachers and Jean fought back great the other night. I came with a couple of friends to the meeting. We left when they went private but then I heard they came back out and still didn't do anything about elementary. Why didn't they? Did they explain? How do we make them vote on it?
This Board has 5 dictators. They will not listen to the professionals. They make decisions on their own. If you give them their way this time, there won't ever be a way back. Get a petition. Write to the SDE. Find a local professor who is knowledgable and who will support your cause Can you imagine a Board shoving a 'program' at teachers that teachers don't want? Great way to raise test scores..

ReplyDeleteHaynie is halting the process based on her expertise with Literacy. Anyone else want to comment?

Nancy on Norwalk is discussing this right now. You don't have to use your real name to post.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone considered asking Dr. Karen Waters, the Director of the literacy program at Sacred Heart to support you?
