Daddona brought calm and got a budget passed with no controversy. The BoE hires Dr. Manny Rivera and that makes everyone happy. The haters are taking credit for it all. We know they fought Dadonna. We've heard the rumors about the superintendent selection. Do they think any of us are fooled?
I know the truth and I agree with you. I am not fooled. The Board's first choice for superintendent was not Rivera, by the way. Daddona got thrown by the wayside even though he got everyone to agree to a budget. Daddona had a three year plan that no one has brought up. Interesting that the Board wants us to think Rivera was their first choice and that a certain fruit group hates Daddona so much. I am sure we will hear from the fruits on this.
FUNCTIONING BOE = HAYNIE, ROSATO, KEYES, AND HARRIS. WHO CARES ABOUT Red Apples or Daddona. Who cares who the first choice for Superintendent was? Be happy we didn't get Dadonna. That fight has been decided. Rivera is very strong candidate with the right qualifications. Doesn't he deserve our support? Nobody is fooling anybody. Dadonna wanted the job and the BOE went with a better qualified person.
Gonna stop chuckling long enough to respond: The entire BoE supports Rivera. Well except for Haynie who refused to support Rivera's choice for his deputy. Don't forget, Haynie keeps pressuring Rivera on Core Knowledge. Yep, that's support. Dont get me started on the illegal annonymous campaign committee LT started- if the Pommes are so popular why did LT feel the need to hide behind the anonymous illegal group?
"The English Language Arts program of Norwalk Public Schools is aligned with the standards of the Connecticut State Department of Education, the International Reading Association, and National Council of Teachers of English. Our curriculum standards have been prioritized to emphasize the high-leverage skills that will prepare our students for success in many arenas--school, mandated assessments, and in life. We are dedicated to developing our students' proficiency as readers, writers, speakers, listeners, and viewers with a lifelong love of literacy and learning. " - quoted from the Norwalk Public Schools curriculum website
The Red Apples would have you believe there is no curriculum in Norwalk. That the teachers are free to teach whatever they want. If that is so, what is the thing called curriculum, as spelled out on the Norwalk Public Schools website? Looks like a curriculum by subject area and grade level. Why, yes it is! The RedApples would have you believe that Norwalk educators don't know what they are doing. They scream for reform! If that's the case, why did the new superintendent praise the rigor and the high quality of educators on the front page of the Norwalk Public School website? Are the Red Apples saying that the superintendent lied to the public? The Red Apples hand out propaganda that wreaks of lies. Is this a way to lead a district? No way!
So are you saying every district in the country, except the leafiest suburbs, needs reform BUT Norwalk. Seems even Darien is having problems. But not good old Norwalk?
You forgot to mention that Norwalk test scores were the best in the Alliance. They were great compared to the DURG. Why are we looking for reform when our district is solidly going in the right direction now? Our top achievers are getting into the best schools. They wouldn't be able to do that without a curriculum. I am puzzled by the rhetoric of the Apples.
Huge difference between what the Apples stand for and what their founder and BOE fans do:
RedApples say: "Support your superintendent" Haynie: refuses to vote for Supt. Rivera's choice for Deputy.
RedApples say: "open and transparent is the only way" Lisa Thompson: hides behind annonymous campaign committee for her "purple four"
RedApples say: "Data, data, data" Barbis & company: slam ELA director for giving data critical of core knowledge foundation incomplete reading program.
Lisa Thomson claims her organization is non-partisan, but she is all over the place trying to convince people that the Red Apple slate is the one to vote for. Her partisanship couldn't be more obvious.
