I think the change in superintendent has caused a break in the action here. Also parents, teachers and administrators are concerned more with weather than schools right now. It will pick up.
There may be a change in the top spot-- but the same old stuff is still around! what is happening in IT? Nothing works, little or no response from CO. Who is in charge of all this? Every school has horror stories.
8:54, soooo true! Teachers can't even bring students for assessments to computer room. Someone screwed up big time!!!! What is the BOE doing about this? Someone's head needs to roll!
It was written about months ago that several consultants were hired for NPS. Now I am hearing that foundation grants were filtered through NEF, who, I have also heard takes 10% for themselves, and then they hired the consultants through NEF. Is this true? Why, if true? Did Rivera hire these consultants from his private company? How much were they paid? Did Rivera get to profit from this if they were hired from his company? Please investigate. If this is all true, something very wrong and very underhanded happened, i think.
It is also rumored that the IT guy has his own company as well. Is this why nothing works is is focused on his own company? He used to work for the former supt's, private consulting company. People are getting richer off of Norwalk's children! Not fair!!!! The BOE should really look real close to what is going on...so caught up in credentials?
Taking an administrative amount off the top of grants is not necessarily a bad thing. That usually is the case--it is for the managing and reporting of grants.
1:50 PM, why was it necessary to take the 10% when it could have gone through the local budget? Other grants do. That's why we pay grant administrators. We're Rivera's consultants from his private company paid by those funds through the NEF? Is that why funds were managed there? How much did they get? And, did Rivera get some of that money?
Mike Lyons, would you please answer the questions about the foundation grants going through Norwalk Education Foundation, and if that is how Rivera's private company made money off of these grants?
what do you mean by foundation grants? those by NEF itself, or another foundation like the Dalio? What happened to Lee Palmer? Home? Collecting a big salary at home on taxpayers' money? According to the new supt. "special projects". he needs to be accountable. as a taxpayer, another waste I see.
can the NEF foundation be asked to provide public records of how funds were dispersed? which grants they managed, and what was paid out of them? what are Manny's companies? Is he still the owner of GPS, and is Ralph V. still on his books? Why can't the board chair respond to questions? The truth is told on this blog. is he embarrassed as what is going on? Eighteen months of rhetoric and promises are now melting faster than a winter's storm!
I think since the NEF is a private foundation, they are not subject to Freedom of Information. If what has been questioned here is not factual, Mike Lyons step up and let us know. Silence is not helpful.
Seems like apathy has hit this blog!
ReplyDeleteIs Norwalk too far gone to turn around?
Who will be attracted here?

1:18 PM, I agree with you. I would like answers from the Board, specifically Mike Lyons! Let's have the truth!
