What Are You Willing To Pay?

It is no surprise to those who have been following the Norwalk Public School system's latest revelations regarding the CREC report on Special Education needs, as well as the necessity of removing salaries from grant funds, that a rather sizable amount of dollars will be needed for the next budget. The Chairperson for the Board of Education is asking for a 3.9% increase in funding. Readers, that's a major increase. Does anyone remember an increase of that magnitude EVER?

What do you think about 3.9%?

  1. If they are so short on money, why are they still hiring big salaried employees at their central office? Could someone please itemize the jobs and salaries at central office? Taxpayers need to know this.

  2. the district probably needs that money to really get things ion shape. However, I too wonder about those salaries. The last post on NON presented a bleak picture of the shape the schools were in, and didn't even include the high schools, and Briggs in its plan, and they are saying they need 77 million to upgrade elementary and middle schools only.
what has been going on for years? has no one been watching anything?
Even in the NON posting, a board member called one high school, "a dump". How does that make one feel if they have kids there, live in that area, or work there? Also, why are they still protecting certain administrators?

  3. We have been really badly misled by Lyons and his choice of the past superintendent Rivera. This is the worst BoE in history!

  4. No way will a hefty 3.9% pass in this economy. Who can afford it? Look at the stock market. Can you spell recession?

  5. I think the sky really is falling. Dr. Adamowski is looking for millions and millions of taxpayer's dollars. Mike, are you supporting this? The $4,000,000 shortfall in special education came under Adamowski's watch. Time to leave Norwalk!

  6. I think that his chiefs found the shortfall that has been a shortfall for years.
That is a major problem. But what is even worse is that they want to bring all the outplaced back into the district and with what support?
also, why are we adding schools? more magnet schools?
is this more on the taxpayers backs?
