Cafero

Quoted from the Norwalk Hour:

NORWALK -- Saying "there is still unfinished work to do on behalf of the voters and taxpayers" House Republican Leader Lawrence F. Cafero of Norwalk announced Sunday he will be seeking relection.

"I have been honored throughout my career in public life to serve all my constituents," said Cafero in a statement released to The Hour Sunday. "While I believe we have accomplished much, there is still a lot of work to do for all the people of Norwalk and New Canaan, whether it is protecting their pocketbooks, delivering quality education for their kids or making sure our streets and playgrounds are safe and secure."

What do you think? Has he delivered on the quality education thus far?

  1. He and bobby duff are making a career by not finishing the work they were sent to do. How much longer do they need? I would like to see some new faces with new ideas. It can't hurt! Look at the mess they have gotten us into.

  2. At least Cafero is willing to speak out against all the unfunded mandates that rob Norwalk. You can't blame him for not winning a lot of the votes-- he's not in the majority party.
People, you know you're not going to blame Bobby Duff for not accomplishing much, so just give him a free pass again. But you have to be willing to hold Morris and Perone accountable.

  3. Continuosly electing the same people will give us more of the same. I am very perplexed by the endearing love that Norwalk voters have for Sen. Duff. Can someone explain this love affair?

  5. Legislators are quick to point out how much influence they have by reason of their seniority, party affiliation, etc., right up to the moment when they are criticized for their lack of accomplishments, at which point they are quick to point out how little influence they actually have, for whatever reason (minority party, etc.).

The fact is that Rep. Cafero was House Minority Leader at a time when there was a Republican governor whose budget director was a former Chair of the Norwalk Board of Education. This was probably the high water mark for his ability to influence educational funding policy, and one would think that it would have been the golden opportunity to get the ECS formula fixed in a manner that would treat Norwalk fairly.

The ECS formula is something that affects us all, both in regard to the quality of our schools and the level of our taxes. The fact that Norwalk's current and past legislators from both parties have been unable to alter it in any significant manner is our legislative delegation's central failure over the last two decades.

  6. Here's a suggestion that was hinted at in the last thread: Replace Cafero with Colorassi. I love the idea!

  8. Steve, Cafero has had plenty of time in Hartford. We need you to step up to the plate. Please at least think about it. I hope the voters of Norwalk will convince you.
