Is it possible to shout out for "guarded optimism"? In spite of a less than stellar BoE, the new superintendent put together a fair budget. I liked that he is emphasizing keeping class sizes small.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to shout and scream at the BOE (Jack, Barbis, Lyons) and several taxpayers who complain and mis-represent the truth about teachers in Norwalk. Yes, their are great teachers and yes there are poor teacher as well, but none of us our average.
ReplyDeleteTo take and compare the salary of a 1st year teacher, against that of a teacher with 32 years of experience and a Ph. D is just not right or fair. The use of those numbers by the Mr. Hamilton and BOE is wrong. It does not paint the most accurate picture.
I just want to scream, because I am not average! I work hard to bring about improving result in my school. Please stop the insanity of blaming teachers and their salaries for Norwalk's "problems".
Education in general has multiple partners... Teachers, parents, students, BOE, and taxpayers. All should accept the credit when things go well and all should work to improve when results warrant change. No one group should be singled out.
Just my chance to vent and scream.
