Call for Mike Lyons, Board of Education Chairperson

It appears that enough people want the truth behind the Dalio Foundations' grant (and other private grants) that were allegedly filtered through NEF. Were they? Were consultants from Rivera's company paid through these grants (filtered through the NEF)?  What did these consultants charge? Did Rivera stand to profit if the above is true? Why was the decision made to allow the NEF to  control the purse strings of these grants, if true?  If the above allegations made by posters are not true, please let us know. We are asking for information. Thank you.

  1. Lyons has already stated here what he thinks of this blog and the posters.

  2. What he thinks about the blog is one thing, but his obligation to answer to taxpayers is another. We would like answers to these questions. If he doesn't like this blog, then answer the questions on Nancy on Norwalk. We just want to hear the truth.

  3. Looks like the truth is known. No one from NEF or from the Board, Mike Lyons, is willing to answer these questions. Someone should investigate what exactly transpired. Is this how Rivera got his bonus? The NEF is sure benefitting! Shame on Norwalk! Shame on Lyons for not being willing to answer these questions.

  4. This is why I rarely visit this blog; it is mostly wild, unfiltered speculation. Since innocent people and organizations are being libeled here, however, I decided to make an exception and respond.
The posts on this thread (and February 7th’s) are pure nonsense. The Dalio Foundation funds were sent directly to Norwalk Public Schools via a wire transfer - not through NEF. We received funds for PTECH from the Bea Foundation and First Niagra, and these did go through NEF, because NEF’s people were the individuals who developed the relationships, filed for the grants, and secured the funds for us. If NEF hadn’t done so, we would not have received those funds ($125,000 in total). All received funds went to support PTECH’s extended day, summer program, personalized learning, and the NECA secretary. There were no consultants paid from First Niagra or Bea Foundation, nor have any consultants from Dr. Rivera’s former company been paid anything.
To the question, “is this how Rivera got his bonus”, the answer is that Dr. Rivera was never paid a bonus (he departed before any bonus provision in his contract could kick in). “Shame on Norwalk”? No, shame on the irresponsible rumor-mongers on NorwalkSpeaks.

  5. Mike Lyons, it is obvious you need to do your homework. While some of your information is correct, there are issues with foundation grants and NEF. Perhaps you need to consider that the "rumor-mongrels" may be incorrect in the details, but are correct about foundation grants. Look into grants and NEF more carefully.

  6. More vague innuendos.

  7. On a stack of bibles, this is truth. Check carefully.

  8. What is "truth"? Come on out and say exactly what you are referring to.

  9. I have been involved with NEF for 15 years. Whoever you are that is swearing on bibles and maligning NEF for whatever agenda you have, perhaps you would like to meet for coffee and talk to me about it. I can't stand by and let you defame an honorable organization while hiding behind an anonymous moniker. Let me know where and when you'd like to present these facts and I'll be happy to meet you.

  10. Paula, why don't you just state if consultants for NPS were paid out of your foundation grants? We're they from Manny's private company? Do you have the major foundation grants (any of them) at NEF? I think it would be wise to clear this up publicly at this point.

  11. Good morning. And your name is??

  12. Paula Palermo, not answering makes it look like there is something to hide. It doesn't matter who is asking. The truth is being sought. What is the problem with denying the allegations? Truth or lies? I have to admit that it's beginning to look like there is a problem with the truth. Am I wrong?

  13. It matters to me who you are. No name? End of conversation. If you want to know about NEF, come to the next board meeting and raise your questions to the Board of Directors. They’ll tell you what you need to know in a civil and professional setting. This is not the venue. I'm done here.

  14. Mike Lyons answered the question. I guess his answer wasn't good enough. Easy to sit home and make anonymous accusations.

    Good for you, Paula.

  15. Mike Lyons didn't have the correct information. He therefore did not answer the questions. It doesn't matter who is asking the question, it matters that the questions are answered. Something is very fishy about not answering. If there is a denial, if the accusations are not true, say so. Plain and simple! Looks like we have our answers.

  16. I,too,am puzzled as to why these questions can not be put to rest. If this blog is attracting people who are making up stories, I would like to know that. Is there any truth to these stories?

  17. We have our answer. There is a deafening silence from NEF. I gather that Rivera's minions walked off with a substantial amount of dollars.
