Cutting the Budget, Your Input

I've been asked to post about how everyone would feel about cutting the budget by eliminating teachers. I'll open it up even further. What cuts would you suggest and why? Please speak to positions, not individual people. If you are asking to cut teachers, tell us whether you are talking about classroom teachers or others. If you mention central office positions, tell us why the position is unnecessary, not the person. In this way, we will have credibility with the Board.

  1. Please just keep Susan Marks away from making any decisions on the budget. She tried to cut elementary school services last year and academically talented in the middle schools and the swim team at Norwalk High and BMHS.

  2. And another thing, if the pseudo educators want to talk about keeping the focus on student achievement, can they please stop referencing class size issues. Research shows that smaller classes help student achievement. What worked for us as kids doesn't work now.
If the BoE needs to save money, they need to take a hard look at the most expensive schools in Norwalk. Columbus doesn't need a teacher and an aide in every class room and Briggs doesn't need 2 guidance counsellors and an army of teachers for less than 50 kids who show up every day.

  3. Maybe we need to close one of the small schools. What do you think?
