Who will be our Hero?

Will it be Jack, Chairperson of the Board who pulls together the Board and quiets the member(s) who are out of control? Will it be Mike Lyons who starts to use his own intelligence and stops supporting a loose cannon? Will it be the mayor who gets control of the out of control member(s) of the Board of Ed? Who will step up to the plate and be our hero? What's your guess?

  1. You have to look at the four fighters- Artie, Rosa, Migdalia and Steve. They are the ones who can turn the BoE around. The mayor does not control them. Thats a good thing.

  2. My guess is no one. They are a train wreck heading for nowhere. Probably an express train.

  3. Haynie got dangerous when Dickie Mocc got behind her. Lyons is a good Dickie soldier so it figures that he will be defending her.
The "hero" we need is someone who stands up to Haynie's nonsense. Listen we know she can't get five votes for the day of the week. But don't we know that she is a terror to everyone and nasty at meetings.
I've only seen two people stand up to her- Rivas and Colarossi. We need six more.

  4. Daddona is definitely not a friend or backer of Haynie. Between Rivas, Colarossi and Daddona, maybe we will see some change? Or is she still hanging on to Susan Marks? (Has anyone told her Susan Marks left? lol)

  5. Change???? You must be kidding? Daddonna and Rivas have been around forever and Steve takes his direction from Lynn Moore and Bruce Mellion. Change, that's a LOL.

    1. HUH? Did you not see Steve's budget proposal- he had cuts to the second assistant principal at West Rocks and cuts to teaching staff. He takes his direction from the people who elected him.

  6. Tina Turner had it right- "We don't need another hero".
We need a chairman who can run a meeting. We need board members who can work with each other. We need a superintendent who's not in the back pocket of a fringe group of malcontents.

  7. The only thing I agree with you on is that we need a chairman who can run a meeting.

  8. No need for a hero- just some cooperation. Wouldn't it be nice if Board members stopped playing "gotcha" with each other (Haynie, Barbis and Rivas do this)? Jack's had two years to figure out how to be a chairman and he's failed- I still think he's a good guy, but he doesn't rate as an adequate chairman.

    1. For whatever it's worth, maybe I'm just a schizophrenic voter. But I think Jack Chiaramonte has been an awful Chairman for Board of Education even though I am voting him for State Senate. He's a fighter and that's what we need (big time) in Hartford- as long as he doesn't become Senate President the state will be better off with him in Hartford than without him.
Jack was never a hero in Norwalk but has the potential to be in the state capitol.

    2. Schizo voter might be on to something. Senator Jack might be the only way Norwalk will see any increase in that cursed ECS money formula.
As for the Board of Education, Kassimis would make a good chairperson. He does a good job as vice-chairman.

  9. Hard to disagree with most of you. It is good to see enough of you willing to see Jack as a good guy who is just in over his head.
The wild card for the BOE has got to be Haynie. If she doesn't get nominated by the Republicans, will she go out in a blaze of glory? If her boy doesn't become chairman, how will she handle life on the sidelines?

  10. I'm looking for anyone to step up and be honest about the mistake that was Susan Marks. That person will be my hero.

    1. She's been gone a month. Get over it. Norwalk's problems were here and are still here long before she arrived. The fact that she failed doesn't excuse the idiots we still have at the helm.

    2. Nice way to chase away someone who wanted to comment! Where did you learn to deal with people? As for the comment about the idiots at the helm, who are you to judge? I am beginning to see signs of hope. Are you sitting there just waiting to complain or are you willing to help make things more positive? Throw out the garbage of the past and try to focus on a positive future!

  11. Karma- after 2 years of giving away jobs without always getting Board of Ed approval, Marks gets her own special gift job.
