  1. So what do you think about the same Republicans running the Board? I am especially curious about the staff and their thoughts. Please weigh in.

  2. More interesting that Manny resigned. While NoN and the Hour talk about rumors, Manny sent out an email to all staff saying he's resigning effective Jan 31st. I wonder how the Apples are going to spin this after he said he was in it for the long hall... I hope he takes some of his cronies with him. For the little I saw of Manny, he seemed okay but the incompetent cronies have got to go. They will not be missed

  3. Rivera is leaving after he placed all his friends in high paying positions. He is leaving a mess behind. The unions can't be blamed this time. Melion and Rivera did well together. Melion got his way, so there were no complaints. Teachers are getting a 3% raise and are happy. Now the Board is faced with finding money next year for Manny's friends and the 12 Curriculum/Asst. Principals. Good luck to the person who steps in. I doubt it will be Daddona. From what I have heard, he was not well treated by Manny because Manny listened to Apples. Pay close attention to what happens next.......

  6. what was accomplished in 18 mos was limited to much additional resources headed to human resources, and what has changed? Unanswered emails, no accountability, no follow through. We have added positions such as the one for the retired superintendent on staff, so he can continue to collect a pension, and he does what? Did what when he was HR director? Other staff tell you we are working on it...and when will it be done?
Added personnel from schools on special assignment to do what?...lot's of time on cell phone in the middle of meetings...can you be a little professional please? Placement in CO does not always mean you have done well, especially when there is not a title!
What has been accomplished with those administrators who cannot lead, we still pay coaches for and nothing was done.
Enough mourning over losing a leader...what did we really lose?...a politician with a million dollar consulting business. Use google it is a great informational tool.

  7. Who shall be the next interim? Let us hope an pray it is not Dad-do-nada!
Talk about $200,000 in waste of money and salary! With his few friends on the board, let us hope they cannot get him on board. There is no one in CO qualifed to step up!
The "math car salesman", who cannot get his resume to read truths, all lies, and it was reported to HR, DA-DO-Nada!, and once again swept under the skelton of lies in the district!...
IT/Partnerships CO, that Manny brought in, maybe should run for the hills, before the Power School debacle and technology plan strangles him.
No experience as an administrator, and no experience in business planning, but he was related to the former mayor...and the beat goes on!!!

  8. The Posting of 11:04, you are so right. If they put Dad-do-nada we will step 50 years backward. For all the years he has been here, he has caused so many problems, done nada, but survived on his knee pads.
Maybe Manny will be able to get him out before he leaves. If that happens, then it will be a sad day in Norwalk, because finally the only one to get him out, has also gotten out.
We have to get rid of the cancer of Dad-do-nada, and the union leaders, they are poison. They are getting rich and doing nothing for their members.

  9. You have to come in the district with an industrial size broom and clean out every corner, and then exterminate so there are no additional growths of poison.
Let the state take over if they have to. The lives of 11,000 children are affected.

  10. Someone sure has it in for Daddona! Too bad s/he has to be so nasty. Oh yes, the vacancy for Interim Superintendent is fast approaching; The Apples don't want to see that going to him again. After all, the Board praised him for keeping things calm and moving forward. Uh......isn't that what an interim is supposed to do?
Enough on that. Let's look forward to another retiree who comes from out of state to take Norwalk for every taxpayer's dollar. Let's make sure we get a superintendent who moves around frequently. When will we ever learn?

  11. It is unfortunate the BOE is swayed by rhetoric and credentials.

  12. 3:26 PM, I totally agree. Wasn't it the three Board members (who are now blamed for Rivera leaving), the ones who opposed the way he was hired? Maybe they were right!

  13. What do you think of Manny Rivera's reasons for leaving Norwalk?

  14. I think it his personal decision and everyone should stop with the gossip! Feel bad for the district but stuff happens!! Folks should worry more about who will replace him.

  15. The NHS principal sent flowers to a teacher for being a teacher for being the month last week. That teacher hasn't worked at the high school all year.

    1. It was a company giving out free flowers for teacher of the month. They send them to the school. The principal selected a teacher based on the school's teacher attendance records that are kept by main office staff. This was done over election day when we had PD. The teacher is known for having great attendance (has been employed at the school for years).
