  1. any update on superintendents "to be"?

when is the present interim going? how in the world did the board make their decision on an interim, or did manny as his parting shot recommend this guy?

it is a scary thing ....

  2. Don't know if Manny chose Connelly, but Manny is working hard to make sure whoever is chosen as next super will protect his friends and their high paying jobs.

  3. How does staff feel about checking in and out of schools?

    1. The staff has been swiping in all year. To say otherwise is just a lie perpetuated by certain BOE chairmen and CO administrators (just like it's been a lie to say that teacher evaluation only just started to be based on student performance, when they've been associated with performance for the list 3 years). At the start of this year teachers had to swipe out, it's only because of how gestapo Mr. Palmer tried handling things with it that it was revoked.

  4. If CO would worry more about what is going on there and not who is swiping in or out.
look at the previous posts, highly paide consultants who have 3 year contracts? where was the BOE in all of this? Instead of the people in central office always saying, "it is such a mess", why not stand up and say something about it. After what has happened here during Manny's time, what allegiance do we owe him?
Mike if you read this, take heed, because what is going on in this distract is as bad as the abuse that no one spoke about in Stamford, and now heads are rolling there.
    let's get some rolling here!!!!

BTW: what is going on at BMHs?

  5. Different person, but directed at Mike:
Superintendent search for someone who will implement Rivera's plans? Translation: Superintendent search for someone who doesn't mind being micromanaged by the Board!
Research shows that the reason superintendents don't stay these days is because of micromanagement by the Board.

SO...Come to Norwalk, candidates! Here you will find a Board who loves to micromanage!

Job Description: Your "vision" not needed. We already have one

We hire expensive consultants if you can't do the job

We hire your friends offering very high salaries

Taxpayers think you are a gift to Norwalk because we keep telling them you are

Salary: Amazingly high considering all you have to do is be charming!

  6. I have heard there is big trouble for the executive search firm PROACT. Is this the firm Norwalk is (and has been) using?

  7. Chicago-based PROACT Search Inc., which had led the charge to hire DeKalb’s next school superintendent, has been fired by the DeKalb School Board.

    Gary Solomon
    Gary Solomon
On May 3, board members voted 6-0 to dismiss PROACT after “disturbing allegations” and a federal investigation of PROACT’s CEO and owner Gary Solomon were brought to the board’s attention. District 2 member Marshall Orson was absent.

In a May 3 notice posted at www.dekalb.k12.ga.us, the DeKalb School Board did not detail the allegations, but an April 30 Chicago Sun-Times article said the allegations involve racial slurs that Solomon allegedly made in a 1999 e-mail and inappropriate behavior involving students when he was a teacher and school administrator at Niles West High School in Skokie, Ill.

The newspaper’s article, based on records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, said that in the email to a former female student, Solomon referred to African-Americans as “mooks, shines, burrheads, yard apes, porch monkeys” and several other racially offensive terms.

It said that Solomon also wrote that black people “will never set foot in his house.” The comments were included in a transcript of a state hearing held when Solomon initially fought efforts to remove him from the school district.

The transcript also said that in a personal journal he kept on a school computer, Solomon described another school administrator as an “uppity n-----.”

Since the Sun-Times story ran, the Fayette County, Ky., School Board said it was rethinking its decision to use PROACT to find a new superintendent.

  8. Only in Norwalk...

-can we hire a search firm that charges almost double of what they did for Manny, and now we find the firm has a biggot running it...

-can we have people stay home and collect their full salary--why is the HR director still on the payroll?
if he did something that bad...sever the contract.

-have administrators who constantly have bullied central office, have their spouse in the bldg working.

-hire retirees in HR who know nothing about HR
-continue to allow retirees to fill their pockets ...when is enough enough!

-have administrator who has had a vote of no confidence from the staff still be here, and nothing gets done

-have scandal in the high school, and no one is accountable...

-spend so much on technology and within one year it is already falling apart!

-have a former IT director steal funds for parts, write him a letter of recommendation, and not press any charges
-have a specialist from CO, lie on his resume, and still be in the district

    -no one is accountable

Only in Norwalk... ADD TO THE LIST!

  9. Adding to the above......
    Only in Norwalk
-can we have $100,000+ consultants hired to write standards, with a three year contract to boot!
-can we have Pay to Play snuck into the budget by the superintendent without input
-can we have a Board chairman who claims everything is moving forward in a positive way when it isn't
    Keep this going in comments!

  10. Can we have lots of talk about more done deals for administrative vacancies?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Just wondering, who are the retired people working in HR and where is HR director? What school had a no confidence vote? Not sure what done deals for vacancies mean. Don't candidates have to apply for the positions? Is this a case where a principal has problems in their building (Marvin, Cranbury) and they are just transferred to CO?

  12. How come Nanicy on Norwalk and The Hour aren't mentioning PROACT? Google PROACT and Chicago for all the problems. Why is Norwalk keeping it a secret???? Why does this Board keep secrets? Other Boards using PROACT seem to be coming out with statements. Why not ours?

  13. Done deals mean that the interview and screening process is a sham for some positions. It means that central office staff and the board know ahead of time who they want, and merely go through the motions. It means that positions are held vacant for a year, or more, at a time with interims in place. It means it's a sham.

  14. PROACT is the company our Board Chairperson hired to find Norwalk an outstanding superintendent. PROACT has been under investigation because it's CEO has allegedly made racist comments and allegedly has questionable behavior. WHY IS NO ONE REPORTING THIS? WHAT IS OUR BOARD DOING ABOUT IT? Is this another major problem being swept under the rug?

  15. It has been heard that Rivera is involved in the superintendent's search. As for those administrative positions that have been promised? Manny Rivera!

  16. Is it true that the Dalio Foundation Grant will no longer be given to Norwalk? Does that mean the Assistant Principals will lose their positions?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Still no news on the superintendent search group PROACT. The CEO OF PROACT s supposedly a racist and no one in Norwalk cares?
WHY IS THIS NOT BEING QUESTIONED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION?
WHY IS THIS NOT BEING PUBLISHED IN THE LOCAL PAPERS?
If a major political story falls in Norwalk, does it make a sound?
Apparently not if it involves something negative about the Chairperson of the BOE!

  18. Only in Norwalk:
    - could there be a recruiting firm that has retained a recruiting firm that has its CEO as a person who has made very inappropriate remarks about minorities.
-have opening at central office that have already been promised and interested and qualified parties need not apply.
-have another resignation of the Finance Officer. does he have information about misuse of funds and getting out of dodge before the poop hits the fan.
-have incompetent administrators who are still allowed to lead because no one is watching, and yet the BOE know and CO knows, and the evaluator Deputy Dawg knows
-have administrator at central office on special assignment with nothing to do, and may become the next assistant superintendent. could not hack it in building...
-have SPED expenses so out of control and contuining to spiral out of control.
-have the former super who took the money and ran still running the district, putting his cronies in positions with contracts that we as taxpayers have to pay for.
-have a technology director who is so out of his element and the only claim to fame are hundreds of chromebooks that are already breaking, a network that is down more than up, and yet we do nothing.

Continue "only in Norwalk"...maybe someone will wake up and begin to take a look at what is going on.
as a taxpayer it is appalling that we ar e spending money that is hard earned by taxpayers, and yet there is no return on our blood, sweat, and tears.
