  2. You must already have your date for a secret rendezvous all set up! Let us know where it is so that we can report on it. After all, we want to know what your next high paying job is going to be. Was it already negotiated for you? I'll just bet it was.

  3. You are absolutely right!!! I am in line for a job on the third floor where my only responsibility is to host a BLOG where I can solicit "comments" and "thoughts" about "What's a mess" and what's wrong with the Superintendant!!!! And Andy Garfunkel!!! And Nora King!!! And the Superintendant's "Pet"!!! And Victor Herbert!!! AND HARRY BECKER!!!!!!!!!!! Yes. It's a dream job.

  4. No one is forcing you to read this blog. Why are you here?

  5. Yes, go bother someone else!

  6. Who said she's staying?

  7. That's the rumor going around. It's also rumored that some demands were made. Anyone want to elaborate?

  8. Friends on the third floor say that Marks was promised lots of stuff from her fan club. Too bad no one has told the majority of BoE members. From what I've heard, Marks is slow to figure out that Haynie can't deliver anything and that Nora and Barbis alienate people.

  9. Knowing a few of the gossip-mongerers in the central office, I think Lisa D.R. has some solid scoop.
Bishop-Pullan has told Marks that there will be no special deals from her side. I understand that one of the R's has had the same conversation with her.
It looks like the threats to quit weren't all that legit.

  10. Of course, if she doesn't quit, Barbis, Haynie and the other Apples will take credit for their great "support susan" plan-- if she does quit, Barbis, Haynie and the other Apples will assign blame.
Makes you want to be certain that Haynie gets her friend on the BoE . . . .
By the way, the Oxy Clean Ball has more Facebook supporters than the Barbis/Nora King political opportunism of the "Support Susan Marks" page.

  11. What about the mayor? Are the rumors true that he is looking for money for her to hire central office staff?

  12. Does anyone understand that this type of rumor- and gossip-mongering is fundamentally negative and destructive? Even if all of what you are saying is 100% true (and when was the last time you heard a "rumor" that turned out to be 100% true?), the tone and manner in which it is disseminated does its own small part to poison the atmosphere just a little bit more, to no one's benefit.

And please do not tell me that if I don't like it, I don't have to read it. Spreading rumors like this does damage whether I read them or not.

Likewise, until someone proposes arrests or fines for spreading rumors, it is not a freedom of speech issue. It is an exercise of judgment issue. Just because you have the right to say something (and you clearly have the right) doesn't mean that you should do so.

And no, I don't know the superintendent. I don't even really have an opinion about her. And if I ever have lunch with her, it will probably be as a raffle prize.

  13. I think people who comment here, based on these rumors, are worried about where their tax money is going. They are also wondering about who is in charge and what the story is about a leave of absence. The behavior of the superintendent affects the entire school system, and especially the students. Nor walkers have the right to know.

  14. Norwalkers have a right to know - yes. But we have a right to something better than some insiders and quasi-insiders gossiping about the latest rumors, about whether or not the superintendent is consulting lawyers, about "the Apples"or about various other players.

Nor is the tone that of public-spirited citizens dutifully overseeing the expenditure of their tax dollars. A lot of personal animosity towards some of the people involved bubbles up through a lot of these comments, and as someone not entirely familiar with all of the personalities involved, it's hard to follow the score-settling without a scorecard.

It is a sad commentary that the absolute void in actual reporting of the news in this town has left the field open to a rumor-based site of this sort. And the elected officials, whether in the Mayor's office, the Board of Ed or (to a lesser extent) the Common Council bear a lot of responsibility for conducting the public's business behind closed doors. The public silence they've exhibited (and yes, I know it's a personnel matter, but it's a rather significant one) helps create the information vacuum that currently exists.

But however much nature abhors a vacuum, there is no law of physics that says that the vacuum has to get filled with garbage.

  15. Let's just wait and see if what has been said is really garbage. I agree that there has been too much left unreported regarding significant events that do have a bearing on the public. If people involved in the rumors don't want all the speculation that goes on in blogs like this one, there is a solution. Get out there with the truth.

  16. If all the gossip ends in the world, what will we discuss? We could discuss quantum physics, finding the secrets of the human genome...or perhaps we could talk about the new multi- planet solar system. Nah, let's stick with gossip!
