New Board of Ed Chair?

No, it's not going to be Steve. That would make too much sense. The Republicans are rumored to want to put one of their own in. It is heavily rumored to be Jack.

  1. I thought Steve was a republican?

  2. "one of their own" = a puppet.

Someone who will do the mayor's dirty work.

  4. Hey, Anonymous- I'm rubber, you're glue . . . hold it, I'm you, or maybe you're me. Either way I'm terribly confused having just insulted my anonymous self.

  5. When did we all become naive?
Marks likes having a yes-man. Moccia needs someone to scream that the teachers are the reason why the schools don't have enough money.
Who's their boy? The Harvard grad or Mr. Shekels?
Let's hope Jack has the good sense to get out of the way when the tough work has to be done on the budget. He didn't bring anything to the table the past few years.

  6. So a BOE Chair with no leadership again. Woo hoo...

  7. Let me reiterate what I posted on the other thread . . . . . . .
Seems like some of us are trying to create a little drama where none exists. Don't you think that there'd be a leak somewhere else if there was some big battle for BoE chairperson?
Call me "naive", but it doesn't help either guy to knock the other and I think that both of them are sharp enough to know that.

  8. I may be mistaken, but I don't think this is about drama...or it wasn't meant to be. I think it is about politics. The suggestion is that the mayor is calling the shots. That falls more under the category of control. I know I am grateful for all the BoE members and the enormous time commitment that they give to Norwalk's children in order to benefit their education. I am not interested in which of the BoE members is chair. I'm just frustrated that it appears to be a control issue. If that is drama, then so be it. This is the place to air frustrations!

  9. With all respect Anonymous, you are making this a drama and there is no need to feel fustrated. It is really unfair to call any BOE member a puppet, or assume they lack leadship. Realisticly, every executive position needs a majority vote. If everyone votes for someone, is it fair to say "The Mayor has his hands on this!" Do the Dem's on the Board listen to Moccia too? C'mon. I know Jack and Steve and they are friends and respect each other, even when they don't agree, and they seem to get along just fine. Each member has their own style, and you are free to say who you like best, but I find it childish to knock one member down over another. Remember how much of their time is given to our city for the benefit of the children. These members sacrifice plenty of their personal & family time from doing other more pleasurable things I'm sure. If the Board members can repect each other, why can't we in the public do the same? I'm sure we can always contact a member and tell him/her how we feel about an issue, or even about their style. It would give you a chance to also hear why that board member feels or reacts the way they do. I've seen some of the nasty remarks on this blog, and others, and it amazes me that these people subject themselves to such to such vile and vicious attacks, for NO Money, when all they want to do is better the system. To all, Please keep that in mind when you post your comments about BOE or Common Council members, they deserve our respect for what they do.

  10. 2:33 PM, you are totally overreacting to other people's comments. Several people comment here as 'anonymous,' so your references to attacks would have to be attributed to several people. I believe most people in Norwalk are grateful for those who choose to serve on the BoE, but that doesn't mean that we can't comment on the stand they may or may not take. Their decisions affect our students, our children. We have a right to say what we think. Don't go ballistic over criticism. They know it's part and parcel of the position for which they were elected. Hopefully the comments that are made even help them to make decisions.

  11. Congrats to Jack for another term as a Chair. Maybe next term Steve - I think this is the seat you need to be in. Good Luck Public School System - I'm out!
