Who knows?

These are questions that need answering if we are to really hold this superintendent accountable. Perhaps the questions have favorable answers, perhaps not. Let's put them to the test.
(1) A major expectation when searching for a superintendent was for the chosen candidate to fairly evaluate principals and to 'eliminate' those principals who were not effective. What evidence exists that this is being done?
(2) This superintendent was expected to hold central office accountable for their schedules in the schools, for their work with staff and for their budgets. Has this happened?
(3) Another expectation for this superintendent was for her to work closely with all parties involved in the education of the students. Has she?
Yes, we have discussed the superintendent and her actions before, but now let's grade her in specific areas. Please feel free to add any areas I have overlooked.

  1. 1. If you ask the parents at Ponus or Wolfpit, they'll tell you that principals aren't being held accountable.
    2. "Everyone" knows about the IT Director who can never be found. He was also the guy the superintendent sent into the administrators union to run as an officer. He's in the super's inner circle, so he's protected.
    3. Speaking of Central Office, that's been this superintendent's focus since she started. She may visit the schools and talk about "rigor", but she's really done nothing- nada- zilch to really help the schools. Just ask the kids in C house at Norwalk High-- the housemaster was sent there by her friend the super and got to take a sweet vacation in October and didn't even start there until a couple of days before school started.

  2. Listen- the Board of Ed has refused to hold the superintendent accountable for anything. They really don't know how to be somone's boss.
With the elections, we will have more of the same. Chiaramonte praises her constantly. Barbis started a frickin' FaceBook page begging her to stay. Haynie is the superintendent's mouthpiece. Even Rosa voted to extend her contract. I didn't follow the election in C, but I don't know if Lyons is going to be too critical with the Mayor supporting Marks.

  3. As long as Marks says that the teachers have to take a pay cut, Moccia and his gang will support her.
The "enemy of my enemy is my friend"-- did none of you take a history class in high school?

  4. This superintendent Is even worse than Corda. She is not holding principals accountable, has done nothing for curriculum and only seeks to place friends in good positions. I agree with everything that has been stated so far. By the way, the principal at Nathan Hale is another friend. Will he get the Norwalk High principalship? I believe his middle school has not made adequate yearly progress or safe harbor like some of the others. Why is he so special? Or will the former Director of Elementary Ed get to be the next principal of NHS? We all know it has to be one of the two friends.

  5. A group of gossips who hide behind anonymity are demanding "accountability."

Sometimes the absurdity of a situation is so complete that it requires no further comment.

  6. That's a laugh Ms. 2:30, who is anonymous herself. Go figure, an anonymous person complaining about anonymous posters! We have every right to discuss accountability. If you don't like it and think this is all gossip, why are you reading it yourself?

  7. A question to all staff members of NPS - Have you felt the repercussions of the budget cuts in your classrooms, especially in the technology area?

  8. What about a new topic - who will be Chair of the BOE? Will we have another Jack at the helm as he bullies speakers whom he doesn't agree with? My best guess is the Mayor will have his hand in that decision as well. If he can't control the Council, he may try to control BOE...

  9. Few things to the above...10:04pm, Ponus has little to know parent - administration relationship. I blame the principal for her lack of interest in parent involvement and for communication. The PTO is almost non-existent and the previous PTO had an extremely hard time with the Principal - they never got a thing done! Parents should of done better on the district survey by claiming lack of accountability of this particular Principal - but many or should I say majority of parents did not participate. Ponus should be restructured - it is time to change leadership, for sure.
12.08 - I believe that the NHS Principal position will go to Nathan Hales' current principal - he is xtremely in Dr. marks set if close friends.
4:40 - the next Chair of BOE will be Steve - who else. There is no other intelligent individual on that board

  10. 3:43 - I will be the first to admit that to comment anonymously, as I have done, is the height of cowardice. And that comments from anonymous posters, including my own, aren't worth taking seriously. Why? Because anonymity means no accountability.

  12. Anon 12:42 / 7:22 I see, Yes, you must be the only intelligent person to tell us who's best for what....NOT! You sound an awful lot like Bruce Mellion or some other Mellion kiss ass. I'm sure you'd be very happy with Steve C at the helm. Your very lame anon. Couldn't care less what you think or if you even care what I say. Grow some and put your name to it, or better yet, go to a meeting and tell the board to their face, you spineless coward...uh, err I mean Bruce!

  13. Sorry 10:34 to disappoint you - but I'm not Bruce. What is Your suggestion to whom may be the next chair? Line them all up and you will see that Steve is the most obvious one. You wait and see - when it happens, I'll be waiting for an apology - kind one that is.

  14. 12:42 and 7:22 are two different people! And I am not Bruce either. I am only writing this to clarify your error. I won't be responding to you again.I don't need to sink that low.
