Seems like...

Seems like you all enjoy starting topics yourselves, and you are good at it. No problem. While we are waiting for budget cuts, you have the floor. Your topic of choice......Do what you do so well. What's on your mind?

  1. If you were to start a "Central Office Employee of the Year" award, who would get your vote? Mine would be Joseph Tavella, recently terminated maintenance supervisor.

  2. Great idea! Let's also do Principal of the Year.

  3. For Central Office Employee of the Year, I nominate Nicole, the Asst. superintendent's secretary. She is the consummate professional, always working, always polite, never gossips and does her work well. Nicole is awesome!

    1. I hope the other secretaries don't harass her because of this compliment.

  4. Lots of hardworking folks- roses among the thorns . . .
My hero is ELIO LONGO- it takes a guy who has nerves of steel (or is oblivious to Norwalk's shoot-the-messenger mentality) to keep uncovering all the issues he is working on.
Mr. Longo, taxpayers and parents thank you.

  5. Why was Joe terminated?

  6. Here's my topic-- why do you think The Hour keeps harping on the Board of Education, but never mentions Supt. Marks regarding the deficit fiasco? I'm not looking for blame, or conspiracy . . . but, I would like to know why the paid professionals get a pass on a real crisis. Is it possible that in Norwalk, the superintendent isn't responsible for the budget?

  7. She is protected by evil powers.......actually, not so far from the truth!

    1. It's the ruby slippers. Their magic must be very powerful. So long as she keeps tight inside of them, no harm will come to her.

  8. Dorothy was not the role I was thinking of for her........

  9. We've been starved for an educational leader for so long. Marks came with a lot of promise. I think a lot of us wanted to believe that there could not be the same problems. Who knew it would be more of the same but at a higher price.

  10. Seems like central office staff are always the first to recognize whether a superintendent is a real leader. We, the public, have the tendency to label complaints from the third floor as nonsense because 'they' are 'people who are just not willing to change.' We discount many truths because we are not willing to listen. As a result, we extend superintendent's contracts and prolong the agony. Maybe it is time to listen to those on the third floor.

  11. Can you (the proverbial "you" that is) tell me why Marks is letting the City talk about a take-over of her finances? Does she know that it is the same as a vote of no-confidence in her? What am I missing? What is her deal with Dick Moccia and King Mike Lyons?

    1. Simple. Moccia protects her. She has become his puppet in exchange. The city has always wanted to take over theBoard of Education's budget. The 4 million dollar debt was most likely orchestrated by the city so this would happen. Don't forget the city held the money for the Board of Ed that became 'mismanaged.' isn't it suspect that the city never told the Board that the funds were running in the red? Wake up everyone! This is very similar to what happened to Stamford and their BoE funds. AND the same person was in charge. Coincidence? I don't think so.

  12. Other superintendents fought tooth and nail to keep the finances with the Board of Ed. Looks like the city finally found one who will sell out.
