Board of Education or Bored of Board?

Is the Norwalk Board of Education the Supreme Court of Norwalk Public Schools?
-What do you think of the authority that this group has with no checks and balances until election time?
-What do you think of the transparency/lack of transparency of this group?
-What do you think of the fact that newly elected members are "chosen" and voted on by a select group of people who go to the polls?
-What do you think about the fact that those chosen do not represent a majority of voters in Norwalk?
-Are Boards of Education outdated?
-Is there a better way to do business for a public school system?
-Do you vote? If not, why?
-Should more authority be given to the superintendent of schools?

How do you feel about a change in the structure of ruling authorities in the public school system?

  1. By MIKE LYONS Quote: THE HOUR
In December and February I published comprehensive lists of achievements and of on-going projects in the Norwalk Public Schools. These included getting our finances and budgets under control, fully adopting the Common Core curricula for English and mathematics, establishing the P-Tech Academy with IBM at Norwalk High School, making $2 million of security enhancements throughout our schools, moving forward with our K-5 Literacy Program, pushing wireless technology into all of our schools, improving use of social media and other forms of parent communication, establishing new systems for evaluating teachers and administrators tied to student achievement, and many others.

    Brainwashing or not?
What do you think of all the repetitious self aggrandizement?
    Obnoxious or necessary?

  2. Lolololol

Wireless technology doesn't work in most schools.

Mike tried starting an argument with a poster on NON when he questioned Mikes boasting about NPS having facebook and twitter. If i remember that conversation correctly, the poster told him nothing to brag about and mike got all hot under the collar.

How much is ralph getting paid? My tween could set up a Facebook account and twitter page in 5 minutes and she set up our wireless network. She works for pizza and a shopping spree at forever 21.

If you've ever met mike obnoxious is his middle name. If you haven't already been told by him, he's a lawyer (and knows BIG words) ;)

  3. I think Ralph gets paid close to $200,000 thanks to his buddy, Manny Rivera. He just got a 3% raise last week. Nice job, and no accountability.....screwed up technology in the schools, loss of 1.1 MILLION in grants, assigned to evaluate principals in schools-a real joke, and more.

  4. According to Mike Lyons on NON, everybody BUT ralph was responsible.

Anyone here have the ability to tell us who was responsible and why we lost grant? Mike is unwilling to answer a poster's questions on NON.

  5. Ralph has Chief of Partnerships in his title. The Dalio Foundation is a partnership.

Ralph wrote the mid year report for the Dalio Foundation Grant (early February, I believe)

Ralph took the Dalio Foundation people around to the five schools.

Ralph met with the Dalio Foundation and the principals at central office (individually, I think).

    Seems pretty clear to me.

Besides, Mike denied that Rivera was a part of the Adamowski appointment. Another example of a cover up?

  6. Mike is still denying this on NON. You decide for yourself. I know where the trail leads us, and it is with Ralph. -Marjorie

    1. Marjorie. .any idea why mike is protecting talph???

    2. Yes. First, Ralph is the former mayor's nephew. Second, Manny Rivera brought him in. Mike would never allow the myth to be destroyed that Rivera was perfect Mike will protect all Rivera's hires. After all, they were brought in with his approval, at very high salaries....and large titles! Ralph is the Chief of Partnerships. Dalio Foundation is a partnership. Therefore Ralph is in charge of the Dalio Foundation partnership. Ask Mike to see the mid-year report written by Ralph. -Marjorie
P.S. Mike is never wrong, don't you know? :)

  7. Marjorie is the biggest deputy defender, can't you tell? And he was threatened by Ralph from day one. And BTW I'm no either of them.

    1. I guess I'd be threatened too if someone got a job based on family connections and wasn't remotely qualified for the job they were given.

What did Marjorie say that was incorrect? Everything I've heard from my child's teacher (and yes i spoke to het at the grocery store today) nothing that has been said about the grsnt by Marjorie is not correct and that Ralph was responsible for the grant and none of the teachers know why funding was pulled.

I find it amusing that mike has been tap dancing around the issue and still has never answered the questions posed to him on NON; who was ultimately responsible for overseeing the grant and why the funding wad pulled. He's throwing everyone HE didagrees with under the bus while avoiding the question. Hopefully that poster along with others keep pressing him.

  8. Thank you for defending the truth. I continued to ask Mike questions on NON at 9:44 AM and my questions are still awaiting moderation. Something is fishy abou that! Everyone else has had their comments published.

  9. Maybe your comments are out of line sometimes, and they need moderation. And maybe the Chapmans don't work 24/7.

  10. I understand that the Chapmans don't work 24/7. I guess I was impatient.
There are people I don't agree with at all on NON. I've never sworn at them or anything like that. I think some people act like they are know-it-alls. Is that a terrible thing to say? -Marjorie

  11. Whatever you feel about marj...she's batting at about a 98% accuracy rate and has posted information weeks before the BOE has confirmed it. That is driving lyons crazy which in my opinion is worth the price of admission.

Mike is still bobbing and weaving and not answering questions. I'm beginning to think that the reason he's doing it is because he really has no clue what's really going on at NPS and is now trapped in a partisan corner that he can't get out of. Sometimes it's a persons ego that gets in the way of admitting they're wrong.

What's the over under as to how many days he continues to deflect (and bash marj)?

  12. I am continuing to be bashed royally. I need supporters on NON. Take a look at the comments under Mike Lyons report on how wonderful he is. I report on facts. If there is no support, I will not continue. I am not Erin Brokovich or The Lone Ranger. there are many of you who know the truth. Stop burying your heads in the sand, please.

  13. Marj....due to some issues that we are having with NPS i can't comment on NON for fear that my child's situation will go from horrible to unbearable.

Where are the principals who are getting bashed by Mike? They are the ones who are javing their repuations destroyed by the constant lying from Mike. My children's teachers said not at any point was the deputy assistant involved with the grant and that Ralph felt that he actually knew better than anyone involved. They said the man never spent any time asking their or the principals opinions. Instead, he did whatever the superintendent wanted him to do.

He has no idea what he's doing, and the 4 day work week he had most of the year (must be nice javing Friday off; he didn't like the traffic) has caused resentment and anger.

Can any teachers tell us how are thise IT initiatives working out? One of our children's teachers had to call a parent to get help.

Is the board up for reelection this year? It seems to me that we need an entirely different board.

  14. Thanks for your support, and I do understand your situation. I hope principals will speak up, but they are afraid to. Some of those who know the facts either retired or have left the system for other reasons. I do speak the truth, but it is getting lonely.
Some of the Board is up for re-election. They have their cheerleaders who will get out the vote, so the ones who are bashing anyone who disagrees with them will be back on the Board, thanks to their cheerleaders.
Frankly, I don't understand how people can't clearly see that Mike Lyons is avoiding answering my specific questions. I promise you that there is a cover-up going on.

  15. I retired as an administrator and I know the truth. I couldn't stand the toxic atmosphere anymore. No, it wasn't the parents or the 'Apples' as someone on this blog
    Constantly claims.

It was the backroom deals, undermining, lying, and a system that is, at the top, more about adults and their power than about children and learning. Jobs were promised and the interview process has been a joke for years. Scheming and handwringing were more important than visiting schools, talking to teachers and administrators, and trying to move us forward.

Marks and Rivera were undermined from within, and the process began before either of them ever formally set foot in Norwalk. This was an active and aggressive process, and several BOE members were part of it. I have to say shame on them, and the rest of us for allowing it. The person who did this is both Machiavellian and vindictive, but that person is gone now. Hopefully that person's power is gone - at last. Obstructionist board members will no longer be fed tidbits or rumors to harass and attempt to humiliate the superintendent. This one won't have any of it.

And MarjorieM, this administrator isn't having it either. Give it a rest, and just stop. It's over.

  16. These remarks are yours alone. You can't speak for others. Let them speak for themselves! As for " the administrator isn't having it," who do you think you are? I don't care what you are having or not having. I am telling the truth about the Dalio Grant. You are not having the truth? How strange! Get a copy of the mid-year Dalio Foundation Grant review written by Ralph V. And we shall see who is right.

  17. Sigh. I know just who I am. And I am talking about years and years of dysfunction, not just the Dalio grant. Maybe you and your buddy will be able to throw enough dirt to make that stick on RV. Maybe. But there is so much more, and from what Mr. Lyons is saying, it looks like a lot of it will come out.

    1. So, it's ok for mike lyons to say whatever he wants whenever he wants, but anyone who disagrees with him is accused of smearing.

Please tell me what is incorrect:

      1) ralph is in way over his head right now and the IT initiatives he put in place are not working
      2) ralph was in charge of tne grant and funding was lost because the guidelines were not followed
      3) ralph was not in the office on fridays more than he was
      4) the principals are being thrown under the bus over the grant by mike

  18. Mike Lyons doesn't evaluate central office administrators or principals. I noticed no one was asking the interim superintendent what he thought. There has been a smear campaign ever since the Nathan Hale incident where the principal was caught segregating kids in his school. The parents decided to go after the (then) assistant superintendent. They worked hard to get their own group on the Board and began their hate campaign. I doubt very much that Mike Lyons will say anything. There is nothing to say!
