And So The School System Turns........

Elections are over and we will have a new mayor and a different make-up on the Board of Education. The one thing we can be sure of is the superintendent. So far, so good. He is well liked by all. He gets along well with the Unions, the administrators and the teachers. Daddona and central office staff have positive things to say about him. Parents like him! It's a miracle......

So what's new and different with our readers? Outstanding questions on people's minds seem to be Thomson wants Barbis for the new Board Chair? Is that so she can control him? Will the Apples vote the Apple issues or their party's issues? Should be an interesting year!

Feel free to choose any topic you wish to discuss. Ask any questions that are on your minds. In other words, your turn............

  1. If Thomson wants Barbis then Lynne Moore must be pushing Murray. Difference is Barbis supported Rivera and Murray didn't.

  2. I believe Murray didn't support the way in which the selection took place. She supports Rivera. To say that she doesn't, only continues the political spin that has been around too long.

  3. Did Harris and Keyes get in b/c they were Apples or because Dems were popular this year?
If the Apples got them elected, then the union got Kassimis and Mosby elected. It looks like it's a draw.

    1. It might be a draw and it might be an Apple Board. It all depends on how the Apples vote.

  4. Hopefully everyone will vote on what's good for children and not what's good for their personal agendas.

    1. Sorry to say you are naive if that's what you think. Did you vote? If so, did you vote for the people who care about the students and not their agendas?

  5. Here is the alliance breakdown-- Barbis, Keyes, Chiaramonte, Lyons (like before) with Sharelle Harris. Barbis becomes Chairman and Lyons keeps Curriculum.
Murray, Rivas and Mosby are out in the cold and Kassimis is left to be the peacemaker.

    1. So what you are saying is the Apple agenda is what will be pushed forward. It isn't about kids. It's about Apples. Well, that's the people voted, so they deserves what they get! (Or they deserve what they get for not voting) NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE APPLE BOARD OF ED! YOU GET WHAT YOU VOTE FOR !

Overheard and circulating in Norwalk: Lisa T. was overheard saying that she still has a few tricks up her sleeve. Good to know that those who really cared about kids are off the Board and the power hungry are in control! Barbis is controlled by Lisa. Bad news for our kids!

    3. Really? Shall we wait to see how the Board votes? I am certain that what is predicted is true. There is an alliance (Apple alliance) that will vote together on just about every issue. They will look at each other to see how each votes, so they will know how to vote. Watch for it.

    4. That alliance you refer to is supporting a nationally recognized superintendent and dragging NPS into the 21st century. I say, bring it on. Would you prefer the Haynie-Colorossi side show?

    5. So the Apples who supported the incapable and moody superintendent, the Apples who supported larger class size, the Apples who are forcing curriculum tools down literacy specialist's throats, The Apples who Believe Norwalk does not have a curriculum ( but there it is on the NPS site in detail), the Apples who negotiated a contract that will cause a 4-5 MILLION DOLLAR deficit in next year's budget, etc. etc. etc.........are going to bring us into the 21st century? THE APPLES ARE GOING TO BRING US BACK TO THE 19th CENTURY! NOT THE ALLIANCE WE NEED!

  6. I'm a registered D but I had no intention of voting for Keyes (too tight with Lyons and Haynie). I wasn't going to vote for Harris (too close with the Apples). Thought all the Dems felt the same way- especially when they started campaigning with Haynie and Rosatto. Boy was I surprised to be reminded to vote straight Row B when I walked into the polls. Guess we can thank the feckless Dem "leadership" for the Apple BoE.

  7. Well now that Shirley is back, they can build their own "Click": Migdalia, Rosa, and Shirley! These are three tough women - well tough is Rosa would speak more. Perhaps their voices and voting will over rule the Red Apples that you are all worried about. Another Click: Harris, Artie, Keyes - I think they are the ones called " silent but deadly"...They too can influence and break the Apples, you all talk to much about. As for Barbis...I can not see him as a board Chair, but I could see Artie taking on that role and Lyons taking Artie's old role. This is just me...Either way, I want the focus solely on the children. Oh, I would not worry about the Apples no more..their powerhouse is no longer on the board. Mike followed Sue since she did all the talking, he has no where to go to now. Harris is her 'own' woman. She is going to make choices/decisions based on her knowledge and her heart! The apples have nothing on her. And Keyes...well, I was surprised that she won another term. So, Cheers to a new board and start!

  8. Keyes and Harris ARE RED APPLES! Both campaigned with the Apples, fundraised with the Apples and owe their allegiance to the Apples. On this Board there are Apples and Not Apples, that's it.

    1. You're going to have a 5-3-1 BoE (5 apples v. Rosa-Midaglia-Shirley with Artie wearing a flak jacket and helmet). Let's hope Manny is strong enough to lead the school department without any help from the BoE.

    "Clique".

  10. Let's hope Manny is also strong enough to keep the Board out of choosing curriculum programs for teachers. We need to watch what happens on the Apple "hate agenda" list as well. Will Manny stand up for what is right or will he let these "women" lead him as did Marks?

  11. It is a shame Mike B. can't think for himself and let's Lisa T. dictate to him. I hope Sherelle H. Doesn't fall into that trap.

  12. Kind of like Artie and Steve?

  13. What does everyone think of the focus groups? They urged Rivera to hire more minority male teachers, among other things. Reactions?

    1. Its just seems wrong and smells funny. Mrs. Harris is an out right race baiter... her own blog and comments prove this. I want the best qualitifed teacher period, who cares if they they are black white or green.
