"Anonymous" I am quoting you....You are providing this topic.

I'm shocked at what Mike Barbis puts on twitter- but I'm not shocked that he insults people from behind his little protected account.
Here are the highlights of the guy Sherelle Harris and Heidi Keyes are supporting for BoE Chairman- shameful politics if you ask me.
[Insult to a letter writer in the 11/4/2012 Hour] I don't know what planet you are on but you don't know what you are talking about.

[Insult to Midaglia Rivas: 8/20/2013] I've been on the Board 2 years. I don't understand how and why she votes the way she does. No rational platform

[Insult to teachers] Question: on ELA curriculum, who knows more? National experts, NYC/NYS boards of ed or Norwalk teachers committee? Just asking

[Insult to ELA Director in response comment about her presenting research about ELA proposals] Wait, handing out 2 pages attacking the 5th ranked option is "honest"?

[Insulting the privacy of Executive Session by disclosing details: 7/9/2013] I'm confused. The Board is interviewing the principal finalists for NHMS but 2 of the board members just took off. Where is their commitment?

[Insulting Rosa Murray and Midaglia Rivas responding to request that he stop the drama: 7/9/2013 ] Nope, not doable. The hypocrisy needs to be exposed

[Insulting his critics: 6/20/2013] More anonymous attacks on me--again that "I'm political". Who are these wimps?

[Insulting Colarossi and Kassimis: 5/22/2013] Its an election season, right? BOE members up for re-election are suddenly asking questions about curriculum, worried about legal expenses?

[Insulting anyone who doesn't agree with him: 2/9/2013] And some great political grandstanding tonight. The local election is 9 mos away but we heard from some board members who are usually silent

[Insulting Midaglia Rivas:2/9/2013] Rivas ranting and raving. What is she accomplishing here? What is the point? We have an expert here to help us improve and Rivas attacking

  1. Barbis and Lyons are working together to get Barbis elected Chairperson. A certain BoE member from District D has been promised the position under Barbis if she supports him. There are members of the BoE who do not support their own party. These people have the nerve to criticize politics in the school system? They are forming alliances and making back room promises that far surpass what goes on in the school system.

  2. A quote from Nancy on Norwalk regarding Lisa Thomson that says it all for not only Lisa, but for Sue Haynie. Both women are in the background pulling the strings for Barbis and Lyons. Here's the quote:
'You are a bright woman, no doubt, but your actions reveal a self satisfying, power-driven hidden agenda.'

  3. If Barbis cared about the public, he would respond to all the insulting statements he's made. Too bad he doesn't care.

  4. Another quote about Barbis from the last topic -

"Thorough research . . . just wanted to remind Lyons, Charamonte, Harris and Keyes about these bits from the future Chairman's recent past:

    http://norwalk.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/ed-board-candidate-barbis-has-arrest-foreclosure-cases

Do the right thing and don't support Barbis for chairman. He sets the wrong example."

  5. So the BOE Apple majority snuck in Lyons.
We know that Barbis had his five votes. We know that Lyons and Chiaramonte hatched their plan with Republican insiders and dumped it on Kassimis Tuesday night. Any one else wondering why Lyons wouldn't have offered the chairmanship to Kassimis.
    More secret dealings.
Mike Lyons who tried to discredit the teachers over the ELA curriculum choice and tried to hide their report in "executive session". Mike Lyons who protected Sue Haynie when she would insult Daddona. Mike Lyons who insists on weekly meetings with Dr. Rivera to keep him "on track".

  6. Clear battle lines drawn- anti-teacher Apples v. Rosa & Company.
Political games only promote distrust and frustration.
Angry outbursts understandable but not excusable.
Moving forward- 2 years of 5 to 4 votes.

Surprising development at the BOE. Mike Lyons remains Chair despite Democrats having a 6-3 majority. What happened? Good question"
Note to Mike Barbis: This is what happened- You took your orders from Mike Lyons and you stabbed your Dem colleagues in the back.

    1. Note to moron above: explain Murray nominating Kassimis for VP. Apparently you are one of these " party loyalists". Instead of your party loyalist group being in charge, we have a bi-partisan group that actually gives a damm about our children. Figures you would support the Rivas & Mosby Follies! I think those two need an anger management class or two.
Big Losers last night: Ditrio & Mellion. Can't wait to read Mellion the Loser's spin in the Vangard! I'll make sure I wear my thigh high boots and bring a really big shovel to read his crap.

    2. This is a polite reminder that calling someone a "moron" or a "loser" only makes you look bad. You have a right to your opinions, but we all have our own realities. What you feel is best for the children is different from what some others may think. Do you really believe some people don't want what is best for the children in Norwalk? Disagree with them, but please don't stopp so low as to call them names. We are the role models for our children, after all.

    3. Anyone else chuckle when you read an "anonymous" comment that sounds just like a former disgraced senate candidate and BOE chairperson?

  8. Many commentators here endorsed Shirley Mosby for Board of Ed and cheered her victory because they felt it would mean a return of civility. Last night Mosby said “I’m going to pull every white hair out of his head,” referring to Mike Lyons. Is that the civility for which you voted?

  9. Mosby is a ticking time BOMB. She is an embarrassment to herself. Hopefully the Sinister Minister can extradite the demons. The Karma in that room is so TOXIC that attending those meetings would make me ill. LIFE IS TO SHORT. Poor Rivera.

  10. It is the Apple Alliance creating the hostility here on this blog. The hostility and the name calling only polarizes the city, the Board and the taxpayers even more. Is this what the Apples want? Change your tone and your tune!

  11. Frustration can be tough to deal with. You get elected and think you can make a difference. You get concerned going into the meeting when you get emails from Mike Barbis announcing his plans to run for chairman. You know his alliance with Lyons, Keyes, Chiaramonte, et al. and you know you need your mayor to break a possible tie for chairperson. Then the mayor leaves, you hear about a last minute political game to replace Barbis with Lyons and you instantly go from hopeful to marginalized.
There's outrage at Mosby's comments- and it's justified. But where is the outrage that a secret backroom deal resulted in Lyons becoming chairman-- and that's the second time he got in by secret deals.
I don't know about any of you, but Lyons failed to keep order last year--- he never reigned Haynie in, let Barbis and Chairamonte bully Rivas and allowed a hostile environment in labor negotiations. But he smiled all the time, so I guess that makes him "civil". Talk about low standards.

    1. @640 AM. You sure seem to have a lot of information … you must be an insider. In fact, you sound just like you must be Rosa Murray! And your plan to take out Barbis and become chair wasn't a secret back room deal? Give me a break.

  12. POLARIZING...LOL. The childish antics are going to continue for at least 4 years. Mosby has NEVER been able to control herself. Everyone is frustrated THAT IS NO EXCUSE. Making threats today have to be taken seriously. I guess the code word for a different opinion is apples. You have one group that is backed by RED APPLES Lyons, Keyes, Barbis, Chairamonte, and Harris AND the other group backed by the Union Mosby, Murray, Rivas and Kassimis they will be named the ROTTON APPLES. Both groups are non partisan. Why does the Union support the ROTTON APPLES...... the RED apples are teacher haters, the RED apples want power..YOU CAN'T BE THAT NAIVE, or maybe you can. Regardless the Democrats don't respect each others opinions and that is why Lyons and Kassimis are in charge. One from each APPLE CAMP.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yes, POLARIZING! You are obviously in the Apple Alliance, 8:32, the Alliance that makes back room deals. You are still spinning. BTW, the Red Apples are the POISON APPLES. We now have a Poison Apple at the helm. I guess this was one of the "tricks" Lisa T mentioned she had "up her sleeve."

    ReplyDelete
  14. YOU ARE NAIVE. Everyone makes back room deals even the ROTTON Apples. You try and build a consensus before the meeting. I know Ms. Murray was trying to build a coalition but she didn't have the votes. I thought the Red Apples wanted Barbis? or Keyes? or Harris? Now it is Lyons. I hope the BoE stops all this nonsense and works together as a team. I am sending you some love, light, peace and harmony. Have a wonderful day:)

    ReplyDelete
  15. People need to understand that there's a lot of history here.
Last year, Lyons didn't become chairman after a "consensus" meeting. He was put in to block other candidates. People felt frustrated that he never stopped Haynie from her attacks and Barbis from his bullying. Maybe it's just perception.
Is Lyons a good guy- absolutely. But that doesn't make him the best choice for chairperson.
Don't forget there's some distrust of the GOP- that party chairman talked way too much to the press about controlling members. It's asking a lot for the other side to have total trust in one of the GOP insiders, even if he is a good guy.
But the parking lot brawling party seems determined to make the GOP look good by comparison.

    ReplyDelete
  16. There is ALWAYS going to be a history. The History is really quite simple Moccia, Murray, Rivas, Kassimis and Collorassi wanted Dadonna for Superintendent and Barbis, Haynie, Keyes, Chiarmonte, Lyons wanted (initially somebody else) and then Rivera. They were all vocal and they definitely did not see eye to eye. It was bi partisan for Dadonna and it was bi partisan for Rivera. The other issue is MONEY follow the money. With bugets, teacher contracts, a terrible economy, achievement gap, etc there have been many people trying to influence the BoE. Parents, PTA's, Lisa Thomson, Lynn More, Tony Ditrio, Bruce Mellion to name a few. All say they want what is best for the children. Some are volunteers, and others stand to lose large $$$. I really don't see how it has anything to do with the GOP. Barbis (D) Haynie (R). If Mosby was telling the truth about bringing civility back to the BoE she would START with an apology to Lyons, Rilling, Rivera and the people who voted for her. Everyone should stop making excuses for Mosby's inexcusable behavior. She looks like a common thug when she acts like that. That behavior should not be tolerated by anyone on the BoE. They should write something in the bylaws with a 0 tolerance for threats of any kind. Anyone making those threats should be terminated immediately R or D.....

    1. Not even close to knowing the real facts of the superintendent search.
The Apple Five fought hard for their first choice.
Daddona was not a candidate when it came time to pick a final superintendent.
Lucky for Norwalk, somebody else fought hard for Rivera. It wasn't an Apple.

But in the end, what does it matter. As long as they work constructively with Dr. Rivera, that's all that should matter to anyone.

      Delete
    2. Bull ......ony Daddona was always a candidate. Final pick at the last minute he pulled his name because he knew he wouldn't be picked. Yes, the RED APPLES wanted someone else and the ROTTON APPLES wanted dadonna

      Delete
    3. Inside word was that Dadonna pulled his name from consideration before the BoE met to discuss their top picks and decide if any offer should be made. Nice attempt at spin by the 9:19 post, but it's just another Thompson/Barbis/Haynie lie.
But seriously, is anyone else as curious as I am- the loudmouths screaming about "civility" aren't saying anything about nasty Mike Barbis' insults of his colleagues. And none of the pseudo "bi-partisan" clique are offering any praise to Rosa Murray for nominating Artie Kassmis for vice-chairman. Might be easier to just refer to the Apple crowd as the hypocritical power hungry pseudo intellectuals that they are.

      Delete
    4. True. Daddona did pull his name BEFORE the Board met to choose the finalists. He decided he didn't want the job. He was on the fence the whole time. He decided his health was more important than to be subjected to Haynie anymore.

  18. Threat? You are all crazy! I guess all the white women get offended by the talk common to South Norwalk. It's like a figure of speech that is used everywhere. The words vary, but it is certainly not a threat. Good grief! Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. This is really about being racist. Mossy fights for her community in her way. Do you really think Lyons or Mr. C have been less threatening in their way? Stop the nonsense!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Threat yes. I AGREE MOSBY IS RACIST and an angry black women. That just speaks volumes to your sense of civility/morals. Fights is the key word. If I was a white man and said I am going to pluck every black hair from her head she would probably throw a punch. Perception does not make it right. Think before you speak should be Mosby's mantra she was voted in as a candidate at large to represent all of Norwalk.

  19. 11:38 When in doubt throw the RACE CARD. Not going to work. Mosby was wrong and should apologize.

  20. With ROLE MODELS like Mosby is it any wonder the achievement gap is what it is.

  21. Racism is still alive in Norwalk and you just proved it! Mosby needs to fight for her community because of people like you. Mosby should apologize if all the Apple characters apologize for the nasty things they have said about her. I won't hold my breath!

    1. I expect less then 0 from her. I think Mosby is a ignorant women and it has nothing to do with the color of her skin but the content of her character.

  22. This is not an issue about race. This is about Ms. Mosby. Has everyone forgotten her complaints of fraud against the NAACP when she lost the Presidency of the Norwalk chapter to Mr. Crossland. She involved the national organization and no basis of fraud was found. Yet she found a way to embarrass Norwalk again. Seems if she doesn't get her way with ANYBODY she feels compelled or just cannot control making a spectacle of herself. If she hopes to be taken seriously by the community, she needs to clean up her act.

  23. Talk around town: (1)Administrators are more than peeved about Arte K. He says one thing and does anothe! Explain that one, Arte.

(2)Barbis was the Apple Alliance choice until Barbis's twitters became public. That explains the pow-wow of the Alliance before the election of Chair. It might also explain the anger by Mosby, but does not excuse her behavior.

    (3) How about Lyons being rude and sarcastic at the meeting? No one want to take that on?

    1. 1. NASA Pres. Ditrio endorsed Artie. His voting for reformer Lyons as chair was the last thing they wanted.

Will Mosby continue the bad behavior. Will Rilling keep her in line? Stay tuned.

  24. The Apple Alliance pow-wow was also about getting Arte to switch sides so that Lyons would have the five votes without Harris having to vote for him. Politics make strange bedfellows! We talk about the politics in the school system. HA! These Apples are the most political, secretive, spinning group I have EVER seen in Norwalk! BTW, we learned above that Rivera wasn't even their first choice. a non-Apple fought for Rivera. Who would have guessed with all the credit the Apples took for THEIR "world famous" superintendent.
